Off the Top

good news: we will be getting all a full benefit from our insurance claim. The adjuster was a bit confused about which policy we had but we got that straightened out and everything should be paid for. Now to get things back in order…

Wow. G is being a little stinker the last few days. A little terrible 2’s at 1 and a half. I think part of it is that he was up too late last night. He went to bed early tonight. Hopefully he will be better tomorrow.

The insurance adjuster called and tried to lowball us on our claim. We hopefully got him straightened out and he’ll give us a fair shake. The GT-3 only cost $42 to get fixed so that’s a relief.

we finally got most of the basement cleaned and disinfected. We will probably have to toss our couches. We threw away some food and some clothes and the carpet so far. Insurance adjuster comes tomorrow. The bad news is that most of the personal items will not be covered. I had to take my brand new guitar effects processor in for repairs. Hopefully that works out okay.

WOW! Trees down everywhere, sewers backing up. Pretty impressive for Oshburg. 70mph sustained winds, gusts up to 90mph. We stayed up and watched the storm. The power went out at 9:30pm. We stayed up till 12am watching the sump and everything seemed pretty stable so we went to bed. We woke up at 2am to check the sump and found the drains in the basement running in reverse. The first thing we did was take everything upstairs that was within 3 feet of the floor that had any value. We didn’t get the holes plugged until 4am and by that time there was over a foot of sewer backup in the basement. God provided a generator for us so we started pumping at about that same time and got all the water out by 8 or 9. Now it just needs to be dried and cleaned really well. The question will be whether to clean the carpet or replace it. A few things got wet but they should be okay when they dry out. Under the circumstances thing worked out pretty well.

All told, we got about 3.5 hours of sleep yesterday.

The weekend was good. Friday and Saturday we visited my cousin for his graduation party. We played music for the guests for about 2 1/2 hours. What fun!

Yesterday we ate lunch with C’s sister. She just got engaged. The wedding will be this time next year.

Sort of a rough day at work here. Nobody wants to help out but stuff needs to get done. Time to put on the superman suit?

Went to the baseball game with G on Saturday night. Miller Park is way cool. He really enjoyed the game. We went with my dad and brother and a friend [L]. We ate at “Friday’s” right at the stadium. The food was good and the prices were reasonable. The view was great but the Brewers lost big. Oh Well. We had fun…

Just got our new window in the house. Pretty neat. I think it makes the room look bigger and now you can see the front lawn and the river. nice.
