In China, the Chinese food restaurants do not deliver. McDonald’s does.

LOST
AdventuresRush was talking about the series finale of LOST after it aired. He didn’t say much, but what he said intrigued me. I had never watched that show. So I started from the beginning and I have to say that I almost wish I had watched along with the rest of America. This is a really interesting program, well written, and with interesting characters. I had heard that there are hidden clues to the real meaning of the show and what not, so I am on the lookout for those, but it seems to me that the real meaning of the show (at least so far) is straightforward. These people all have serious baggage in their lives and they are being given a chance to make some right choices. The show has some interesting and touching moments, but the reason they are touching is that the characters are written like real people with real emotions, real problems, and a real longing for goodness, righteousness, and peace in their lives.
G Pitches Well
AdventuresOn Tuesday, G got the chance to pitch again. J was pitching before him and had walked in a couple of runs so G was working in relief from 3 runs down. J was heartbroken and I wanted to encourage him, but that had to wait till after the game. It seems like all of these 9 and 10 year old boys take one or two batters to get zeroed in and so G did the same. He walked the first batter, allowing one run, and then got two straight fly balls to first and a strike out. He worked the sixth inning similarly, walking the first man, striking out the next two, and taking the fourth on a 1-3 ground out. I jumped up from the bleachers, yelled, and puffed out my chest. G got the coach’s MVP award for the game.
Now, the final score was 6-6, so it was a tie. How do you score the game for the pitcher when his team comes from behind to tie the game while he is pitching and then the game ends on time? I guess he gets a tie on his record.
Cori’s Web Log

Google Translator
FunAnticipating a trip to China someday, I downloaded Google Translator for my phone. Google Translator apparently uses the standard function for speech to text input and downloads an additional module for text to speech output. It will print out the text of what it thinks you said in English and then print as well as speak the resulting translation. I’ve been getting some funny results withal. When I asked the translator to translate “It sure is hot out today,” it thought I said “insurance auto today.” When I asked it to translate “You are late,” it thought I said “you are laid.” Can you imagine if I were in China and asked my phone to translate for me? I guess this thing needs some work.
And the Next Anomalism
AnomalismsHe’s in the Bathroom
AdventuresWhat would you think if you saw muffin crumbs on a shelf in a porta-potty? You would think that someone took a muffin in there and set it on the shelf and then took it out. You would think someone intended to eat said muffin after it existed inside of a porta-potty.
Volkswagen Foolishness
ObservationsThe car company favored by National Socialists has been running an ad where one fellow slugs another and says “Silver One.” This goes on for several iterations while the marketing professionals let on that this is how the game is supposed to work, but let’s be honest; the whole ad gives us the fantods. Everyone knows the game is called “Slug Bug,” yet the sluggers can’t say “slug bug” because that would break the pretense. We can say with certainty that no 12-year-old ever slugged his buddy when a Rabbit, Passat, or Jetta drove by because he would’ve gotten a bruise of his own in return. So let us stop pretending, and do not forget to slug when you see a bug.
NCAA Championship 2010
ObservationsThe NCAA division 1 basketball championship game was phenomenal. I surely wanted Butler to win, but the whole game was well played and satisfying to watch.
G has pointed out this: Coach Krzyzewski looks suspiciously similar to the Blue Devil in the Duke logo.
I have pointed out this: CBS just beggared the best tournament/playoff finale in all of sports — to wit, One Shining Moment — with Jennifer Hudson’s recording. Apparently there is a history of rerecording the song down through the years, but man, this version sucked the hind teat. And then, as if they were trying to make it worse, they interweaved footage of the singer with the basketball highlights, turning the finale into a music video about the singer instead of a montage about the tournament and its players. CBS will not get away with this travesty.
Conundrum of the Week
ObservationsRiddle me this: If my cousin Smith married a Jones, Jones’ uncle married a Sawyer, and Sawyer’s niece married my other cousin Jacobs, does that make me my own cousin
